October Math

Dear Families,
The goals for the October unit in Math are:
-read and print numerals to 20
-read and print number words to ten
-count from 0-20 and backwards from 10-0
-match the number word to items counted
-compare and order numbers and groups of objects using words such as same, more and less
-estimate the number of objects and check by counting

Examples:
Print the numerals and number words.
2 less than 6              ______         _________________
2 more than 4           _______       _________________
_________________________________________________________________________________
17 is 10 and _______.
_________________________________________________________________________________
There are 8 apples in a bag.  Some are yellow.  Some are red.  How many of each could there be?
Show your thinking in pictures, numbers and words.

Math class

The students were using many different items to create patterns.  They were challenged to create 3 different patterns like ABB, ABC, AABB, etc. 

Art class

Students learned about secondary colours and had some free time to be creative.
