New Math Unit- November
Students are learning about Time and Money. Time is broken into key events through the day that are important to them (ex. In the morning, I learn Math, in the afternoon I have Reading, at night I play Wii or have bathtime, etc.). In Time, students will be learning how to tell time to the hour hand.
Tips to help: record bedtime to the closest hour ( analog clock) each night for a week. Review afterwards by asking, "Did you go to bed at around the same hour every evening?". How do you know?
In Money, students are learning to recognize and name coins to $2 as well as add penny, nickel and dime coin values together. Many students at this age have a difficult time in understanding the worth of the coin.
Tips to help: take a small handful of coins like pennies, nickels and dimes and have your child add up the value together.
